Director of Jewish Learning: Lori Shapero-Press

Lori Shapero-Press is delighted to join the City Shul community as our new Director of Jewish Learning.

She has been a dynamic teacher and leader in Jewish Education for over 25 years, as a curriculum specialist, program leader, teacher of preschool through grade four, and a mentor to new teachers.

Lori holds a Masters in Education from OISE, an Honours Degree in Religious Studies, certification from both the Ontario College of Teachers and the Board of Jewish Education, as well as additional qualifications in Math, Phys. Ed., and Special Education.

Her professional experience and passion equip her with the skills and understanding to support rich, experiential and hands-on Jewish learning in our warm and inclusive school community.

When with her family, Lori can be found exploring city trails on her bike, or shepping nachas from her three children who are each dedicated to their respective sports of water polo, baseball and dance. Lori is particularly excited to join our welcoming, diverse, and creative downtown community.

Synagogue Administrator:  Barb Wiseberg

Barb is our Synagogue Operations Manager.

Her background is in marketing & communications, and she has enjoyed working with a variety of clients, large & small.

Her family is from Toronto – her grandparents immigrated from Poland and Russia, and her parents grew up on Euclid Street (mom) and College Street (dad).

She is married and their son attends UBC.

In her spare term, she enjoys collecting antiques, wooden jigsaw puzzles and spending time at her cabin at Camp Naivelt (430 square feet, keeping things cozy!)

Each person is unique at City Shul and Barb enjoys learning more about how she can help you – whether it’s a large or small issue – along with listening to how you came to our Shul, what you enjoy most, and any suggestions that you may have.

Troubleshooting could be her hashtag – so please feel free to reach out to Barb HERE with any questions, issues, or suggestions

Shalom!
